Engineering International Internship Scholarship

Overview

Abby Riesmeyer

Interested in exploring new and diverse cultures while gaining valuable engineering experience?  The College of Engineering (CoE) encourages you to participate in an international internship by providing a scholarship to support your experience.

The CoE International Internship Scholarship offers $1000 scholarships to CoE undergraduates pursuing international internships during the spring/summer.  The scholarship is designed to benefit those who would otherwise face financial barriers to participation and is open to students pursuing paid or unpaid positions.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to College of Engineering (CoE) students who meet the following criteria:

  1. Have completed the first year* in the CoE by the start date of the internship and are in good academic standing (*transfer students who have completed one semester in the CoE by the start date of the internship are also eligible)
  2. Are a current CoE undergraduate returning as an undergraduate in the Fall semester
  3. Obtained an internship outside of the US and outside of the student's home country
  4. Will work on the internship assignment for a minimum of 6 weeks
Internships are considered positions where the student will work for an organization for a limited period of time to gain meaningful work experience. Internships can be paid or unpaid and can be administered by a U-M program, a non-U-M internship provider organization, or the student may find the internship directly with a company.

Note: U-M summer study abroad programs that are research-based, as well as student organization travel abroad, are not considered internships.

If you have questions about your eligibility or whether your experience counts as an internship, contact Emily Aiken (ejaiken@umich.edu).
