M4 International Elective Grant

Overview

Since 2003, the Medical School Dean has supported opportunities for fourth year medical students to participate in international clinical electives. These electives are considered a priority for students as a "capstone" to their educational training because they expose students to health issues and health care systems far different from our own. They provide students the opportunity to gain perspective on the US health care system and on the issues of global health. The purpose of these awards is to help reduce the financial burden of these rotations for students interested in pursuing this experience.

Eligibility

This scholarship is available to 4th year University of Michigan Ann Arbor medical students who are registered as full time students at the time of the elective. Funding will be only given for rotations in the institutions listed as below. Applications must demonstrate how this experience could not be obtained through a similar domestic rotation.

Please Note: There may be other things that the Office of Medical Student Education (OMSE) requires before your elective location is approved. Check OMSE's website for additional requirements. Students whose elective is not approved by OMSE ARE NOT eligible for the Global REACH grant.
